New Directions Education is currently recruiting Cover Supervisors to work across a number of Special Educational Needs (SEN) settings in Wakefield.
This rewarding role is ideal for individuals who have experience working with children or young people with additional needs and are confident leading classes in the teacher’s absence. Whether your background is in education, support work, youth work, coaching, or care, this could be the perfect opportunity to make a lasting impact on young people’s lives.
As a Cover Supervisor within an SEN setting, you will:
- Deliver pre-planned lessons and learning activities in the absence of the class teacher.
- Support pupils with a range of additional needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, speech and language difficulties, and complex learning needs.
- Maintain a positive, safe, and inclusive learning environment.
- Manage classroom behaviour using positive and supportive strategies.
- Adapt learning activities to meet individual pupil needs where required.
- Encourage engagement, confidence, and independence.
- Work closely with teaching assistants, SENCOs, and wider support staff to ensure the best outcomes for learners.
