Job Summary:
A Machine Operative is required to operate and set up a slitting machine as per job packs provided by management. They are responsible for producing finished goods to customer specified dimensions and maintain high standards. The machine operative is expected to work efficiently, co-operating with all site colleagues whilst always ensuring compliance of Health and Safety requirements and BRCGS Standards.
The role:
- Ensure safe use and maintenance of machinery
- Maintain all housekeeping standards and sustain an organised, clean work environment
- Effectively set up and run slitting to customer’s specification
- Carry out pre-inspection and ensure any malfunctions of equipment or difficulties with any job are reported immediately to your direct manager
- Ensure quality checks and standards are always maintained
- Cut cores at correct size whilst keeping waste to an absolute minimum
- Ensure Print position and repeat lengths are adhered to
- Detect and report defective material, print quality immediately to your direct manager
- Accurately record production data
- Correct non-conformances
- Weigh rolls and label as required
- Load and unload material working within the guidelines of manual handling and machine operated lifting equipment
- Perform preventative maintenance on machines as required in accordance with scheduled PPM. Any major hour PPM inform your direct manager
- Perform any ad-hoc duties requested by supervisor or management.
- Maintain Health and Safety and BRCGS standards throughout all areas of the business. Ensure to report all concerns, near misses and incidents to management
Working Hours:
Basic working hours are 8am–5pm, Monday to Friday with 1 hour lunch. Overtime available subject to business needs.
Experience:
- A minimum of 1 year machine operation experience essential
- Experience and knowledge of operating a slitting machine, and/or experience of the flexible packaging industry would be advantageous but not essential
Please note that this role is physically demanding and requires a reasonable level of physical strength and fitness.
Pay: £12.71 per hour
