Portsmouth Water is seeking a skilled CAD/Data Technician to play a key role in maintaining and enhancing our technical drawing library. In this position, you’ll use AutoCAD to digitise assets and produce high-quality GA drawings, schematics, detailed site plans, and associated data sets, ensuring our records remain accurate, up-to-date, and ready to support operational and engineering needs.
What will you be doing?
Key Responsibilities
Following complex instructions and diagrams to create or modify drawings.
Taking verbal direction and implementing into sketches and calculation to produce the final work.
Produce plans, elevations, technical details and building layouts.
Coordinating filing, storage and retrieval of drawings.
Drawing maps, diagrams or plan for construction projects and structures.
Planning and drawing details of supply management systems.
Being able to define problems and finding solutions for them.
Visiting sites to survey the location of new and renewed water mains and produce as-laid drawings from the surveys.
Work with Engineers, building services and other contractors in producing plans and drawings.
Knowledge in using different software packages to convey instructions about materials, technical specifications, assembly procedures, measurements and site requirements.
Accuracy is important for CAD operators, as you need to take lots of complicated and technical information and interpret it into a drawing, with supervision.
Preparation of drawings for renewals schemes and other electronic drawings to include updates of CAD
Network skeletons to support operational processes and procedures.
Data analysis of assets - working with data owners and operational teams to ensure data accuracy and completeness.
Assist with the clarification, validation and reconciliation of asset data.
Identify and correct data anomalies, gaps, and inconsistencies in asset records.

A minimum of 5 GCSE’s, including Maths and English.
Level 3 apprenticeship or equivalent qualification or demonstrable equivalent comparable experience
MS Office, specifically Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
Working knowledge of AutoCAD.
Ability to quickly learn new software applications.
To be flexible, decisive, able to recommend changes and adaptable to change.
Excellent communication, verbal, including presentation skills, written and numerate skills.
Accuracy and excellent attention to detail, with the ability to prioritise and organise workloads to meet deadlines.
