About the Role
As a Recycling Process Operative, you will play a vital part in ensuring the safe, efficient processing, sorting, and recycling of materials within our Recycling Department.
The role involves physically demanding, repetitive manual tasks and is best suited to someone who enjoys active work, takes pride in accuracy, and thrives in a practical, team based environment. You’ll work closely with your line manager and colleagues to keep the department running smoothly, safely, and to the high standards expected across our business.
What to Expect
This role includes:
- Regular manual handling (lifting, moving, and sorting materials throughout the shift).
- Repetitive physical tasks requiring stamina and focus.
- Working in an industrial environment that may be noisy, dusty, or involve temperature changes (full PPE provided).
- Fast paced, target driven work, often involving machinery and equipment.

Key Responsibilities
- Follow daily and weekly instructions from the Recycling Manager to complete operational tasks.
- Process and sort recyclable materials safely, efficiently, and with a high level of accuracy.
- Operate and maintain machinery and equipment in line with training and company procedures.
- Assist with loading and unloading materials, ensuring correct handling and storage.
- Identify and report faults, unsafe conditions, or damaged equipment promptly.
- Maintain excellent housekeeping to ensure a safe, tidy, and compliant working area.
- Adhere to all Health & Safety policies, wearing appropriate PPE at all times.
- Work collaboratively with team members to meet recycling targets and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Essential Requirements
- Ability to follow instructions accurately and work to a consistently high standard.
- Awareness of workplace Health & Safety practices.
- Good timekeeping, reliability, and strong attention to detail.
- Positive attitude, flexibility, and willingness to learn.
- Comfortable with physically demanding, repetitive manual work.
Desirable Requirements
- Previous experience in recycling, warehousing, manufacturing, or a similar environment.
- Forklift licence (Reach, Counterbalance, or Articulated/Bendy).
- Familiarity with basic machinery or production processes.
