Purpose of Role
We are recruiting for an experienced Facilities Operations Manager to manage hard FM delivery across a portfolio of high-profile MOD establishments around Hampshire.
Job Description
As Facilities Operations Manager, you will oversee the delivery of hard FM services across a regional portfolio that includes key Defence establishments such as RAF Odiham, Worthy Down, Army Headquarters Andover, Middle Wallop and Baker Barracks. Working closely with site-based Facilities Managers, engineering teams and specialist subcontractors, you will be responsible for ensuring contractual performance, operational efficiency and statutory compliance across the estate. This is a highly visible client-facing role requiring strong leadership, stakeholder management and technical FM expertise.
Responsibilities
- Lead the operational delivery of hard FM services across multiple Defence sites.
- Manage planned preventative maintenance, reactive maintenance and lifecycle activities across the built estate.
- Oversee the successful delivery of minor and major refurbishment projects.
- Manage both directly employed engineering teams and specialist subcontractors.
- Ensure contractual KPIs, SLAs and performance targets are consistently achieved.
- Drive improvements in operational performance, efficiency and first-time fix rates.
- Maintain compliance with statutory, contractual and Health & Safety requirements.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with MOD stakeholders and key client representatives.
- Monitor financial performance, resource allocation and operational budgets.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across the regional portfolio.
Essential Qualifications/Skills
- Significant experience managing hard FM contracts across large and complex estates.
- Strong technical understanding of building services, M&E and fabric maintenance.
- Experience leading large operational teams across multiple sites.
- Demonstrable experience managing subcontractor performance and service delivery.
- Strong knowledge of KPI, SLA and contract performance management.
- Excellent stakeholder management and client relationship skills.
- Proven ability to manage competing priorities within a fast-paced environment.
- Strong understanding of Health & Safety legislation, compliance requirements and CDM regulations.
- Knowledge of SFG20 and statutory maintenance obligations.
- Full UK driving license.
