Job Purpose
As a Food & Beverage Assistant, you will help deliver a friendly, efficient and memorable experience for guests across the hotel's restaurant, bar, breakfast and event areas. You will work as part of the Food & Beverage team to provide professional service while maintaining high standards of cleanliness, food safety and guest satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Welcome guests warmly and provide friendly and professional customer service.
- Take food and beverage orders accurately and efficiently.
- Serve food and drinks, and alcoholic beverages according to hotel service standards.
- Assist with breakfast, restaurant, bar and weekend events as required.
- Set up tables, restaurant areas, and event spaces before service.
- Clear and reset tables promptly during and after service.
- Maintain cleanliness and presentation of the restaurant, bar and service areas.
- Communicate guests' allergies, dietary requirements, and special requests to the kitchen.
- Answer questions about the menu and provide information about food and beverages.
- Assist with card and other payment transactions where required.
- Support colleagues during busy periods to ensure smooth service.
- Follow Marriott and hotel procedures relating to food hygiene, health & safety and responsible alcohol service.
- Restock supplies and assist with closing and cleaning duties.
- Handle guest requests and concerns professionally, involving a supervisor when necessary.
- Thank guests and encourage them to return.
- Carry out any other reasonable duties requested by the Food & Beverage Supervisor or Manager.
Marriott's published F&B duties specifically include setting tables, delivering orders, clearing dining areas, communicating dietary requirements to the kitchen, processing payments, and completing closing duties.
Person Specification
Essential:
- Friendly and positive attitude.
- Excellent customer-service and communication skills.
- Reliable and punctual, particularly for weekend shifts.
- Previous hotel environment experience.
- Able to work effectively as part of a team.
- Comfortable working in a busy, fast-paced environment.
- Good personal presentation.
- Willingness to work evenings, weekends and bank holidays.
- Ability to follow food safety and health & safety procedures.
Desirable:
- Previous experience using a till/POS system.
- Food hygiene knowledge or qualification.
- Experience serving food and beverages.
- Knowledge of allergens and dietary requirements.
Weekend Availability
Availability: Available to work Saturdays and Sundays, including daytime and evening shifts, with flexibility to work additional hours during busy periods, events and bank holidays where required.
Pay: £12.71 per hour
