Bright Young Futures is a growing provider of supported accommodation and support services for young people transitioning from care to independent living. We are committed to empowering care leavers aged 16+ to develop the confidence, skills, and resilience needed to achieve positive outcomes and thrive within their communities.
We are looking for a compassionate, motivated, and resilient Floating Support Worker to join our dedicated team supporting young people across Ilford and the surrounding areas.
The Role:
This role involves visiting young people in their homes and within the community, building positive relationships, and supporting them to overcome barriers to successful independent living.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build professional, trusting relationships with young people aged 16+.
- Support young people to develop independent living skills, including cooking, cleaning, budgeting, and managing bills.
- Assist with tenancy sustainment and understanding tenancy responsibilities.
- Support access to education, training, employment, and volunteering opportunities.
- Help young people engage with health services, social workers, and other professionals.
- Create, review, and implement support plans tailored to individual needs and goals.
- Complete risk assessments, support records, progress reports, and case notes.
- Promote positive mental health, wellbeing, and community engagement.
- Advocate on behalf of young people when accessing services and opportunities.
- Identify safeguarding concerns and follow policies and procedures appropriately.
- Work collaboratively with local authorities, leaving care teams, housing providers, and other partner agencies.
- Encourage young people to make informed choices and take responsibility for their future.
Essential Requirements
- Minimum 1 year's experience in a youth centred role (School, Care, Training etc)
- Understanding of the challenges faced by care-experienced young people.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to build and maintain professional boundaries.
- Good report-writing and IT skills.
- Strong understanding of safeguarding and professional practice.
- Ability to work independently and manage a caseload effectively.
- Flexible approach and willingness to travel across Ilford and surrounding areas.
Desirable Requirements:
- Level 3 qualification in Children and Young People's Workforce, or equiv.
- Experience within supported accommodation, semi-independent living, leaving care services, or housing support.
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
