We are seeking a friendly, organised, and professional Medical Receptionist to join our team on a maternity cover basis.
This is initially a fixed-term position to cover maternity leave; however, there may be the opportunity for the role to become permanent for the right candidate at the end of the contract.
Responsibilities:
- Greet and welcome visitors in a professional and friendly manner.
- Manage enquiries in person, by email and by telephone.
- Maintain a neat, organized, and safe environment for patients, staff and visitors.
- Maintain accurate patient records and update information as needed
- Handle administrative tasks such as filing, data entry, and correspondence
- Process payments and cash handling
- Ensure the reception area remains tidy and well-organised
- Support other administrative duties as required by the practice
Requirements:
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Proficiency in using office software programmes (e.g., MS Office)
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Friendly, professional demeanour with a patient-centred approach
- Flexible approach to working hours, including weekend availability on a rota basis
- 5 GCSEs (or equivalent), including English and Maths. ICT desirable
Experience
- 1 year experience in medical or other professional service setting, or in a customer facing role is desirable but not essential.
- Computer literacy is essential, knowledge of Microsoft Office or similar is desirable.

Pay: £14.40 per hour
