An established Aberdeen-based business is looking for an ambitious finance professional to take ownership of its finance function and play a key role in the next stage of its development.
Reporting directly to the CEO, this is a broad and autonomous position offering exposure to all areas of the business and the opportunity to have a genuine commercial impact. This role would suit an Accountant or Senior Accountant looking to step into a broader position and take full ownership of a finance function.
The role covers the full finance function, from overseeing day-to-day transactions, invoicing, AP and AR through to preparing management accounts, financial reporting, budgets and cash-flow forecasts. You will work closely with the CEO and wider business, providing financial insight, supporting commercial decision-making and identifying opportunities to improve processes and profitability. External accounting support is also provided.
The business is currently going through a significant period of change, having recently been majority acquired by a larger group. The acquisition provides a strong platform for continued growth and creates an exciting opportunity for the successful individual to develop and strengthen the finance function.
The role:
- Taking ownership of the day-to-day finance function and monthly management accounts
- Preparing budgets, forecasts, cash-flow projections and financial reporting
- Overseeing AP, AR, credit control and payroll
- Monitoring project performance, margins, profitability and working capital
- Providing financial and commercial analysis to the CEO and senior leadership team
- Supporting pricing, tendering and wider commercial decision-making
- Managing balance sheet reconciliations and statutory financial obligations
- Liaising with accountants, auditors, banks and other external advisers
- Identifying opportunities to improve financial processes, systems, controls and reporting
- Supporting the business through its next phase of growth following the acquisition
About you:
This role would suit an Accountant or Senior Accountant looking to step into a broader position and take full ownership of a finance function. You will ideally have strong management accounting and financial reporting experience, alongside good commercial awareness and the confidence to work directly with senior stakeholders. A recognised accounting qualification such as CA, ACCA or CIMA would be advantageous, although relevant experience and capability will be equally important.
