What you'll be doing
As an Infrastructure Maintenance Workforce HSE Advisor, you'll play a key role in supporting operational teams to deliver a safe and sustainable working environment. Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing practical health, safety and environmental advice, guidance and coaching to managers and frontline teams.
- Supporting the collection, analysis and reporting of HSE data to identify trends, opportunities and areas for improvement.
- Monitoring performance and making recommendations to reduce risk and strengthen compliance.
- Identifying key HSE risks and helping implement effective control measures.
- Supporting the delivery of local and national safety, health and environmental initiatives.
- Building positive relationships with Trade Union Safety Representatives and external safety and environmental bodies.
- Advising managers on accident and incident investigations and supporting the Formal Investigation Process.
- Coordinating safety and environmental audits and supporting corrective actions where required.
- Monitoring safety tours, workforce surveillance activities and compliance with safe systems of work.
- Reviewing safe system of work plans and taking action to address any issues identified.
- Playing an active role in developing safety, health and environmental capability across the maintenance delivery team.
- Job Skills, Experience and Qualifications
Essential
- Must be a member of the Institute of Occupational Health and safety (IOSH) at Technical (TechIOSH) level or above
- Knowledge of safety and compliance management processes
- Knowledge of relevant standards and procedures
- Knowledge of environmental management system
- Knowledge of operational railway environment
- Analytical capability
- Local Accident & Incident Investigation
- Knowledge of coaching techniques
- Good interpersonal, influencing, communication and organisation skills
Desirable
- NEBOSH diploma
- Institute of Environmental Management Award (IEMA)
