Tungsten West is restarting the world-class Hemerdon Tungsten-Tin Mine and is seeking an experienced Senior Geologist to lead grade control and resource management activities across our mining operation.
This is a key technical leadership role focused on ore control, resource optimisation, geological modelling and team development within an active production environment.

About the Role
You will lead the grade control function, ensuring accurate ore and waste delineation, maintaining high-quality geological models and supporting operational decision-making across the mine.
Working closely with Mining, Planning and Processing teams, you will play a critical role in maximising resource recovery and operational performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead grade control activities to optimise ore recovery and minimise dilution.
- Design and improve grade control programmes aligned with production targets.
- Develop, maintain and validate block models and resource estimates.
- Oversee geological data collection, QA/QC processes and database integrity.
- Support short and medium-term mine planning activities.
- Manage reconciliation and production reporting processes.
- Provide technical guidance on orebody interpretation and resource modelling.
- Mentor and develop junior geologists.
- Ensure compliance with company standards and industry reporting requirements.
What We're Looking ForEssential
- Degree in Geology, Earth Sciences or a related discipline.
- Minimum 10 years' experience in hard rock metals mining.
- Strong background in production geology and grade control.
- Proven experience with resource modelling and block model management.
- Experience using software such as:
- Deswik
- Datamine
- Leapfrog
- Similar geological modelling platforms
- Strong understanding of geological QA/QC and data management.
- Experience working within operational open pit mining environments.
- Excellent leadership, communication and problem-solving skills.
Desirable
- Experience across multiple commodities including gold, copper or base metals.
- Knowledge of JORC, NI 43-101 or equivalent reporting standards.
- Experience with reconciliation and resource-to-reserve conversion processes.
- International mining experience.
