Overview
We are looking for an experienced Chef to join the catering team at our award-winning care home.
This is a full-time, permanent role offering a competitive rate of £17.50 per hour with day time working hours.
You will work alongside an established catering team and take responsibility for preparing daily meals, menu planning, ordering and stock control.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook varied, nutritious and well-presented meals.
- Plan menus that reflect residents’ preferences and dietary needs.
- Order food and kitchen supplies.
- Manage stock levels, deliveries, rotation and food waste.
- Cater safely for allergies, special diets and individual requirements.
- Prepare texture-modified meals in line with IDDSI guidance.
- Maintain accurate food-safety and kitchen records.
- Ensure high standards of hygiene, cleanliness and organisation.
- Contribute to menus for birthdays, celebrations and special events.
- Support and work closely with the wider catering team.
Requirements
- Previous experience as a Chef or experienced Cook in a professional kitchen.
Experience in a care home, healthcare, school or high-volume catering environment would be beneficial but is not essential.
Previous IDDSI experience is preferred but not essential. Full training will be provided in texture-modified food preparation and the IDDSI framework.
- Experience of menu planning, ordering and stock control.
- A good understanding of food hygiene and allergen management.
- Strong organisation and time-management skills.
- A reliable, positive and team-focused approach.
- A current Level II Food Safety & Hygiene certificate
- A SVQ III qualification in Professional Cookery (or equivalent award)
- PVG Disclosure Scotland check
