Apprentice Transport Administrator.
The Role
We are looking for a motivated, practical, and organised Apprentice Transport Administrator to join our transport and logistics team. This is a varied role that combines transport administration with warehouse operations, making it ideal for someone who enjoys a mix of office-based responsibilities and hands-on work.
Working alongside the Logistics Manager and transport team. You will help ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the business by supporting transport operations, coordinating deliveries, maintaining accurate records, and assisting with warehouse activities. This apprenticeship provides an excellent opportunity to build a long-term career in transport, warehousing, and logistics while gaining recognised qualifications and practical experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Handle customer calls and respond to customer service enquiries.
- Process customer orders and prepare transport and delivery documentation.
- Support the Logistics Manager with the day-to-day running of transport operations.
- Create transport plans, schedules, and delivery routes.
- Coordinate collections and deliveries with drivers and customers.
- Track pallet consignments and resolve delivery issues.
- Maintain accurate records using company systems.
- Process invoices and complete general transport and office administration.
- Work closely with the operations and production teams to ensure efficient, cost-effective processes are followed.
- Operate a forklift (full training and certification provided if required).
- Load and unload delivery vehicles safely and efficiently.
- Pick, check, and prepare customer orders for dispatch.
- Assist with stock control and warehouse organisation.
- Carry out general warehouse duties, ensuring work areas remain clean, safe, and organised.
- Support both the office and warehouse teams wherever required.
Essential Requirements
- Full UK driving licence.
- Comfortable working in both an office and warehouse environment.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.
- Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritise tasks and work effectively in a busy, fast-paced environment.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- Reliable, practical, and willing to get involved in all aspects of the role.
- Forklift experience is an advantage but not essential, as full training will be provided.
