We're a busy high volume, family-run Irish sports bar with a loyal customer base and a vibrant atmosphere. We're looking for an experienced, energetic Bar Manager to take the helm and help us elevate our operation to the next level while maintaining the warmth and character that makes us special.
The Role
As Bar Manager, you'll have the opportunity to make this bar your own. You'll lead a high-volume operation, setting the tone for exceptional service, operational excellence, and team culture. This is a hands-on leadership position where you'll be present on the floor, behind the bar, and mentoring your team to deliver consistently outstanding results.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Development
- Lead, inspire, and mentor supervisors and bar staff, fostering a positive and high-performing team culture
- Recruit, train, and develop staff to deliver excellent customer service and product knowledge
- Conduct regular staff briefings and training sessions for the team
- Create clear career pathways and development opportunities for supervisory staff
Operational Standards
- Establish and implement high standards for service, cleanliness, health & safety, and stock management
- Manage stock rotation, ordering, and supplier relationships to maintain margins and quality
- Stock takes and controlling costs, hitting GP % targets monthly and identify efficiency improvements
- Ensure full compliance with licensing laws, health regulations, and company policies
- Maintain detailed records and reporting
Customer Experience
- Create an welcoming, lively atmosphere that keeps customers coming back
- Handle customer concerns professionally and resolve issues to maintain satisfaction
- Drive sales through promotions, events, and memorable service
Day-to-Day Management
- Oversee daily bar operations, including opening and closing procedures are adhered to
- Manage rosters, scheduling, and staff absence coverage
- Lead by example—working alongside your team during busy periods
- Monitor quality of beverages and food service
What We're Looking For
Essential Experience
- Minimum 3 years' bar management experience in a high-volume venue
- Proven track record of leading and developing teams
- Strong knowledge of bar operations and stock control
- Knowledge of sports/ sports bar operations
Key Skills & Qualities
- Natural leader with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Organized, detail-oriented, and able to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Passionate about hospitality and creating memorable experiences
- Problem-solver with the ability to make sound decisions under pressure
- Reliable, punctual, and committed to setting high standards
- Comfortable working evenings, weekends, and sporting event days
- Enthusiasm for Irish culture, sports bar and live music atmosphere
Desirable
- Experience in a family-run business
- Experience implementing systems or training programs
- Wet cost control experience

Pay: £28,500.00-£32,500.00 per year
