We’re looking for an experienced Transport Planner who can step straight into a fast-paced environment, take ownership of daily planning, and make smart decisions that keep operations running smoothly.
What you’ll be doing
This is a hands-on planning role with real responsibility from day one.
- Plan and optimise daily delivery routes
- Allocate work across a network of subcontracted carriers
- Monitor deliveries and manage issues in real time
- Re-plan and adapt quickly to changes, delays, and priorities
- Work closely with internal teams to maintain service levels
- Balance cost, efficiency, and customer requirements
- Ensure timely and accurate Proof of Delivery (POD) management and resolution of any queries
- Use planning systems and data to drive better decisions
What we’re looking for
We’re looking for someone who already understands the demands of transport planning.
You must have:
- Proven experience in transport or logistics planning
- Experience working with subcontracted carriers or third-party transport
- Strong route planning and problem-solving skills
- Confidence making decisions in a fast-paced environment
- Experience using planning systems or route optimisation tools
You’ll be:
- Calm under pressure and able to think on your feet
- Commercially aware, balancing cost and service
- A clear communicator who can build relationships quickly
- Proactive, with a mindset for improving how things are done
Working hours
This role is based on a 45-hour working week, reflecting the operational requirements of the department going forward. A degree of flexibility will be required to support daily planning and operational demands.
