Chacewater Garden Centre is a well-established, family-run business just outside of Truro, delivering gardening and landscaping products throughout Cornwall and serving our wonderful customers onsite.
We are now looking for a fit, strong and enthusiastic individual to join our friendly team as a Yard Operative / Delivery Driver. This is a varied, hands-on role that combines delivering goods to customers, assisting in the yard, and helping with general maintenance and customer service.
What you’ll be doing:
- Driving our company van to deliver a range of landscaping and garden products across Cornwall
- Loading and unloading heavy items such as compost, gravel, ornaments, barbecues, and garden furniture
- Forklift driving (training can be provided) and receiving deliveries
- Yard and warehouse organization, tidying, stock taking and waste management
- Assisting customers with loading heavy goods into their vehicles
- Supporting with general maintenance around the centre: painting, basic repairs, grass cutting, and strimming
- Helping on the shop floor and serving customers during busy periods
- Working as part of a small, dedicated team and reporting to the Maintenance Manager
What We're Looking For:
- A full, clean UK driving license with a minimum of 4 years' experience (essential)
- Applicants must be aged 25+ for vehicle insurance reasons
- A physically fit and strong person who can lift heavy items consistently
- Someone who enjoys working outdoors in all weathers and getting stuck in
- A friendly and confident person with good customer service skills
- Flexibility to adapt to seasonal changes in workload and deliveries
- Practical DIY skills such as basic plumbing, painting, carpentry, or electrical work are a bonus
- Forklift license is an advantage but not essential
- Good knowledge of Cornwall's road network is a plus
We are looking for someone to work Sunday to Thursday (Friday and Saturday as days off).
