Role Purpose
Working on a freelance basis, the Quality Assurer will effectively support the day-to-day quality within NQual,
including the quality of the design, development and awarding processes for all standards. The engagement is
flexible and assignments will be allocated according to NQual’s operational needs.
The Quality Assurer will support Quality of Assessments across sectors in Care, Early Years and Education.
The Quality Assurer will uphold NQual values, Innovation, Maximisation, Passion, Accountability, Collaboration and
Trustworthiness.
Job Requirements
- Supporting the implementation of the Quality strategy: This includes setting quality standards, defining assessment processes, contributing to risk based sampling strategies and ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and best practices.
- Overseeing the performance of Assessors: Monitoring assessor consistency, accuracy, and adherence to assessment criteria. This often involves observations, sampling of assessments as per allocation, and feedback.
- Supporting the implementation of quality assurance policies and procedures: Ensuring these are followed by internal and external assessors and compliant with relevant regulations.
- Conducting internal quality audits: Reviewing assessment materials, assessor performance, and administrative processes to ensure compliance and identify areas for improvement.
- Championing continuous improvement: Promoting a culture of quality and encouraging staff to identify and implement improvements and analysing assessment outcome data.

Qualifications
- Hold a recognised Assessor qualification (e.g. Level 3 Award in Assessing Vocationally Related Achievement /Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement (TAQA/CAVA), or equivalent such as A1, D32/D33).
- Hold a recognised Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) qualification (e.g. Level 4 Award in the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice (TAQA), or equivalent such as V1, D34).
- Hold a Level 5 qualification in Early Years (e.g. Level 5 Diploma for the Early Years Senior Practitioner / Early Years Lead Practitioner, or equivalent).
Engagement Terms
- This is a freelance engagement under a contract for services, not a contract of employment; the Quality Assurer is engaged on a self-employed basis.
- Work is offered and accepted on an assignment basis with no obligation on either party to offer or accept ongoing work, and no guaranteed minimum hours.
- The Quality Assurer is paid an agreed day rate, invoiced for days or assignments completed, and is not entitled to employee benefits such as holiday pay, sick pay or pension contributions.
- The role is fully remote / home based; the Quality Assurer provides their own equipment and working environment unless otherwise agreed.
- The Quality Assurer must comply with NQual’s policies, procedures and regulatory obligations (including those under the relevant regulators’ Conditions of Recognition), maintain confidentiality and data protection, and declare any conflicts of interest.
- Either party may end the engagement by giving the notice period set out in the individual contract for services.
Any other duties required by the organisation and deemed appropriate by NQual.
Pay: £140.00 per day
