About the Role
We are looking for a reliable, hardworking, and organised individual to join our team as a Yard Assistant / Plant Maintenance Support Operative. This is a varied role that involves supporting our plant repair and maintenance operations, helping to maintain a clean and efficient yard, and assisting wherever needed across the business.
This position would suit someone who enjoys hands-on work, takes pride in keeping things organised, and is willing to be flexible in their day-to-day duties. There are opportunities for overtime and career progression for the right candidate.
Ideally this is a full time role but reduced hours can be considered in order to be flexible for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintaining a clean, safe, and tidy yard environment.
- Assisting workshop and maintenance staff with general duties as required.
- Collecting and delivering parts, tools, and equipment using the company work van.
- Organising and managing stock within the yard and stores.
- Carrying out regular stock takes and maintaining accurate records.
- Checking deliveries and ensuring parts are stored correctly.
- Supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the yard and workshop.
- Following all company health and safety procedures.
- Undertaking general housekeeping and maintenance tasks around the site.
- Valeting equipment to a high standard in readiness for hire.
About You

- Able to work independently and use their initiative.
- Comfortable carrying out a variety of practical tasks.
- A good team player with a positive attitude.
- Able to manage stock.
- Flexible and willing to help where needed.
Essential Requirements
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Good organisational skills.
- Basic understanding of stock control and inventory management.
- Ability to work safely and follow instructions.
Desirable
- Previous experience working in a yard, workshop, engineering, plant, construction, or maintenance environment.
- Previous experience with autobody work/ valeting.
