As a part of our expanding operations, we are currently seeking a skilled and motivated recovery driver to join our team.
Position Overview:
As a recovery driver, you will be responsible for responding to emergency breakdown calls, recovering and transporting vehicles, and providing roadside assistance to customers. Your primary objective will be to ensure the safe and efficient transportation of vehicles while delivering excellent service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Respond promptly and professionally to emergency breakdown calls, accidents, and other service requests.
- Safely load, secure, and transport vehicles using appropriate recovery equipment, ensuring compliance with all relevant safety regulations and company procedures.
- Provide exceptional customer service by offering assistance, explaining the recovery process, and addressing customer concerns or questions.
- Conduct on-site diagnostics and perform basic repairs or temporary fixes to enable vehicles to be safely transported or driven to the appropriate destination.
- Follow established procedures for documenting incidents, completing paperwork, and accurately recording all relevant details regarding vehicle recovery, damages, and services rendered.
- Adhere to traffic regulations, company policies, and safety guidelines while operating recovery vehicles and equipment.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace, ensuring recovery vehicles and equipment are properly maintained, serviced, and ready for use.
- Collaborate effectively with team members to coordinate recovery operations, share information, and optimise response times.
Requirements:
- Valid and clean driving license with the appropriate categories to operate recovery vehicles, preferably including Class C1 and/or C+E.
- Proven experience as a recovery driver or in a similar role, with a solid understanding of vehicle recovery techniques, equipment, and safety protocols.
- Excellent driving skills and a strong ability to handle a variety of vehicles, including cars, motorcycles, vans, and light commercial vehicles.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with basic knowledge of vehicle diagnostics, repairs, and temporary fixes.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm and composed in emergency situations.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with customers, colleagues, and other stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a flexible approach to work schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Physical fitness and the ability to perform strenuous tasks, including lifting heavy objects, in various weather conditions.
- Knowledge of Medway, Kent and surrounding areas, including road networks and traffic patterns, is an advantage.
