Job Overview
As our Rail Sector Executive, you will play a key role in delivering Armorgard’s growth strategy within the UK rail sector, driving revenue growth by 5x over the next five years. You will achieve this by developing new business opportunities, pursuing strategic projects, and managing specialist rail reseller partners.
You will own the full sales cycle, from prospecting and qualifying opportunities through to product specification, quotation and securing orders. You will also be working closely with rail contractors, infrastructure providers, procurement teams and key decision-makers across the sector.
This is a proactive business development role requiring resilience, commercial awareness and a relentless approach to creating opportunities. The role is primarily telephone-based, with outbound calling forming the core of your business development activity. You will also engage with customers through email, virtual meetings and on-site visits where required. This will build strong relationships and identify opportunities at every stage of the process. You will be expected to develop a strong pipeline and generate appointments each month for our Business Development team to attend.
Duties
- Identify, create and convert direct sales opportunities across rail main contractors, subcontractors, infrastructure providers and train operating companies.
- Build relationships with all stakeholders across contractors, routes and train operating companies.
- Lead the full sales cycle including lead generation, scoping needs, specifying products, preparing quotations and closing sales.
- Track major projects, frameworks and tenders to position Armorgard early in the buying process.
- Provide technical guidance and top product knowledge and recommendations aligned to rail safety, storage, and compliance requirements.
- Manage relationships with approved reseller partners.
- Represent Armorgard at rail events, exhibitions, and supplier days.
Skills/Experience
- Experienced in a telephone-based role with a proven sales track record
- Proven experience in business development or sales within the construction, rail, industrial or another technical B2B sector.
- Demonstrated ability to manage the full sales cycle from lead generation through to closing business.
- Experience developing and managing reseller, distributor or channel partner relationships.
- Experience selling into contractors, infrastructure providers, procurement teams or project-based environments.
- Strong commercial awareness with the ability to influence and negotiate with stakeholders at all levels.
- Excellent relationship-building, communication and presentation skills.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage a busy sales pipeline and multiple opportunities simultaneously.
- Experience using CRM systems to manage pipelines, forecasting and reporting.
- Self-motivated with a resilient, proactive approach and a tenacious attitude towards achieving results.
