About the role:

This role plays a vital part in making sure our buildings feel safe, welcoming, and full of pride for everyone who walks through our doors.
As a General Tradesperson, you’ll work across our services – from residential rehabilitation and supported housing to cafés, offices and community spaces – carrying out repairs, maintenance and improvements that directly support people’s wellbeing.

What You’ll Be Doing
Day-to-day repairs and maintenance
You’ll respond to maintenance needs across our sites, ensuring issues are resolved quickly, safely and to a high standard. This may include:
- Plumbing and minor electrical repairs (within competence)
- Fixing fixtures, fittings and furniture
- Addressing general wear and tear
- Supporting with heating, lighting and equipment maintenance
You’ll take pride in your work and build positive, respectful relationships with staff and
residents.
Planned maintenance and site upkeep
You’ll help us stay ahead of issues by:
- Carrying out regular inspections
- Completing planned preventative maintenance
- Identifying and reporting potential repairs early
General building work
You’ll carry out a variety of practical tasks across our sites, including:
- Painting and decorating
- Joinery and basic carpentry
- Flooring, tiling and plastering repairs
- Lock changes and door repairs
- External maintenance such as guttering and grounds
You’ll also support refurbishment work and help prepare spaces for new residents or services.
Grounds and outdoor spaces
Our outdoor environments matter too. You’ll support:
- Grass cutting, hedge trimming and general upkeep
- Litter removal and safe, clean outdoor spaces
- Supporting residents and community members to take pride in these areas
Supporting people to learn and grow
A key part of this role is working alongside:
- Volunteers
- Trainees
- People gaining work experience
You’ll:
- Share your skills and knowledge in a supportive way
- Help others develop confidence and practical abilities
- Promote a strengths-based, recovery-focused environment
Health, safety and compliance
You’ll play an important role in keeping people safe by:
- Following all Health & Safety procedures
- Carrying out risk assessments
- Maintaining safe use of tools and equipment
- Reporting hazards, incidents and concerns
- Supporting compliance with fire safety, COSHH and regulatory standards
Supporting the wider team
You’ll also:
- Work alongside contractors and site managers
- Support inspections, audits and development projects
- Keep accurate records of work completed and outstanding

What We’re Looking For
Essential experience
- Experience in general maintenance or multi-trade work
- Strong practical skills across repairs and upkeep
- Experience working independently and managing your workload
- Confidence using tools and equipment safely
Skills and qualities
- A proactive, hands-on approach
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Good communication and organisational ability
- Attention to detail and pride in your work
- A supportive and encouraging approach when working with others
Additional requirements
- Full UK driving licence
- Ability to travel between sites
Desirable (but not essential)
- Relevant trade qualifications
- Experience in housing, healthcare, social care or charity settings
- Experience supporting volunteers or trainees
- Knowledge of compliance standards (e.g. fire safety, PAT testing)
- Understanding of safeguarding and trauma-informed practice

Pay: £32,000.00-£35,000.00 per year
