Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Receptionist to join our team. The ideal candidate will be the first point of contact for pet owners and their animals, providing exceptional customer service and support in a busy veterinary practice. This role requires a blend of administrative skills, a passion for animal care, and the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment. 33 hour week, two shifts, alternate Saturdays, must be able to work either shift and be willing to do overtime as and when necessary
Duties
- Greet clients and their pets warmly upon arrival, ensuring a positive first impression.
- Manage appointment scheduling, confirmations, and reminders for clients.
- Answer phone calls and respond or direct call on inquiries regarding services, treatments, and general pet care.
- Maintain accurate patient records and ensure all information is up to date.
- Process payments and handle financial transactions efficiently.
- Assist veterinary staff with administrative tasks as needed, including recieving and processing laboratory samples .
- Ensure the reception area and Consulting rooms are clean and tidy.
Requirements
- Previous veterinary Reception experience or general Recpetion experience is highly desirable.
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail in managing records and appointments.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to empathise with pet owners during stressful situations.
- Proficiency in using computer systems for scheduling and record keeping.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team while also being self-motivated.
- Knowledge of veterinary terminology or laboratory procedures would be an advantage.
- A genuine love for animals and commitment to providing high-quality customer service.
HOURS: The job is based on a 33 hour week (excluding lunch hours) plus overtime as required and there are two rotas operated between 8am and 7pm. Alternative Saturdays are worked (9am to 2pm).
WAGES: Payment of wages is by BACS on the last day of each month, in arrears.
Paid holiday entitlement is 28 working days (to include Bank Holidays). Uniforms are provided and have to be worn.
