Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join our small kitchen team as a kitchen porter and Chefs assistant for approximately 30 hours per week and to cover holidays and busy periods. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food preparation and cooking, with experience in a restaurant environment. This role involves ensuring the highest standards of food safety and quality while contributing to a positive dining experience for our guests.
You may also be required to work at our sister pub in PR5 6YP doing the same duties so driving would be advantageous but not essential if willing to travel to either site.
Duties
- Prepare and cook a variety of dishes according to established recipes and standards.
- Assist in meal preparation, ensuring all ingredients are prepped and ready for service.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, adhering to food safety regulations.
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure efficient service during busy periods.
- Monitor food stock levels and assist with inventory management as needed.
- Participate in menu planning and development, offering creative input based on culinary expertise.
- Serve meals in an appealing manner, ensuring presentation meets restaurant standards.
Requirements
- Proven experience in a kitchen or restaurant setting is essential.
- Strong culinary skills with a focus on food preparation and cooking techniques.
- Knowledge of food safety practices and regulations is required.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work on their own.
- Excellent teamwork skills with the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues.
- A passion for cooking and delivering high-quality meals to guests.
- Previous experience in serving or front-of-house roles is advantageous but not mandatory
- Able to drive with own car is an advantage.
