JIT Logistics Ltd - Full-Time Relief Driver (Daytime & Nights – C1 / 7.5T CPC)
We are looking for a flexible, reliable and experienced driver to join our Relief team that covers either Nighttime Multi-drop deliveries around the UK or Evening or Daytime Warehouse shifts based in Langar, Nottinghamshire.
This is a full-time permanent position and as a crucial member of our team, you will mainly be delivering goods overnight along designated routes, ensuring timely and efficient service to our customers. You will also be required to work in our Warehouse on either daytime or evening shifts and carry out some daytime deliveries. Your shifts will be allocated every month but are subject to change, sometimes at very short notice, so flexibility is absolutely essential.
JIT Logistics has been the dedicated overnight delivery partner for John Deere in the UK for over 38 years. We move agricultural parts overnight to John Deere dealers across the country, so farmers can keep their machinery running. We're a Nottinghamshire-based, family-owned, independent business with a 30+ strong driver team.
It will be crucial for the right candidate to uphold our core company values of reliability and responsibility. Due to the nature of our deliveries, you may be required to unload large, awkward items using a tail-lift and pallet truck. You need to have a ‘can-do’ attitude and a natural ability to problem-solve and work independently and methodically as an individual and part of a team.
Shifts
Your shift will usually begin from our Langar depot.
- Drive a 3.5t van on a fixed overnight route (most shifts), or a 7.5t lorry when the load needs it.
- Load and unload using tail-lift and pallet truck.
- Deliver to trade premises, established John Deere dealerships, overnight.
- Carry out warehouse duties: Picking, packing, and preparing overnight loads
- No public customer interaction. No piece rate. No surprises.
The average shift duration is 9 hours (depending on which route you will be undertaking). Away routes are longer and you will be paid accordingly for these longer shifts.
Shifts run either from Monday to Friday or from early Tuesday morning to Saturday morning depending on your shift.
Night driving starts at around 10pm or between 1.30am and 2am.
Warehouse shifts are either 8am to 5pm or 5.45pm to 2.15am and daytime driving may have a flexible start time.
Weekend work runs on a seasonal rota, May – October. When you're rostered, you work, that's the deal. But the pay structure makes weekends genuinely worth your time: standard shift rate plus a mileage rate on top, which can make weekend runs significantly more lucrative than weekday shifts.
Vehicle Types
- You need to be qualified to drive both a 3.5t Van and a 7.5t Lorry.
- You'll spend most shifts on a 3.5t van, occasionally a 7.5t lorry when the load needs it, that's why we ask for the C1 entitlement.
Pay
- £136.45 per shift, paid monthly which includes Relief enhancement for Local Routes and Warehouse shifts.
- Every other shift is paid at an enhanced rate depending on what you're covering — e.g. longer or away routes attract a higher rate.
- Working Away Allowance of £25 per shift.
- Accommodation pre-booked and paid in advance.
- Company vehicle provided for travel to and from the destination when working away from home.
- £500 guaranteed Christmas bonus every year (pro-rata).
- Weekend work paid on top at shift rate + mileage uplift.
- On average our Relief Drivers earn upwards of £37,000 per annum.
Benefits
- Christmas shutdown: roughly 9–10 days off from Christmas Eve through to 2 January — including Christmas Day, Boxing Day, and New Year's Day
- Most UK bank holidays off (we do work the late August Bank Holiday)
- 20 days annual leave to start — essentially a month off — booked in advance and taken a week at a time
- Life insurance (death-in-service cover)
- Company pension scheme
- Free on-site parking
- Free PPE
- All equipment supplied and maintained — no out-of-pocket costs for vehicle, fuel, insurance, or kit
Who we're after
- Full UK driving licence held for at least 2 years
- C1 entitlement (so you're qualified to drive the 7.5t when needed — most shifts are van)
- Current CPC card
- Current digital tachograph card
- 2+ years' delivery driver experience
- Comfortable with regular lifting, carrying, and manual handling
- Reliable, methodical, takes the job seriously
- Flexibility is essential. This is a relief role so rotas can change at short notice
- Comfortable working overnight, independently
- This is a full-time and permanent position
Why people stay
- Routes are fixed. You'll know the dealers, the buildings, the gates, the access codes. No "where am I going tonight?" — you know exactly where you're going.
- You're paid by the shift, not by the drop. No incentive to rush. No piece-rate anxiety. No customer pressure.
- No public customer interaction. Trade premises, not residential. Overnight, when the dealers are closed.
- Weekend work pays properly. Standard shift rate plus mileage — the long-distance weekend runs can be the most rewarding shifts of the year.
- A proper Christmas off. Nine or ten days clear from Christmas Eve to 2 January — most delivery jobs can't offer that.
- We're independent and family-owned — not part of a PE chain, not a franchise. The people running the company are the people who answer the phone.
- The work is stable. Same customer since 1983.
