Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and proactive IT Manager to take ownership of our internal IT infrastructure, security, and operational systems. This role is responsible for ensuring the stability, security, and efficiency of core IT services, while supporting business growth and adherence to best practice standards, such as ISO 27001. The ideal candidate will combine strong technical capability with a security-first mindset and the ability to document, manage, and continuously improve systems.
Professional Experience & Core Competencies
Infrastructure & Systems Management
- Active Directory & Windows Server: Administer servers, user accounts, group permissions, firewalls, and performance monitoring.
- Hardware & Domain Services: Maintain on-premise hardware/servers; manage DNS updates, domain renewals, and SSL/TLS certificates.
- User Support: Supported internal IT operations, including Office applications, secure email, and VPN access.
Security, Compliance & Risk Management
- Security Administration: Manage Mimecast threat logs, KnowBe4 training programs, and Secret Server credential storage.
- Network Security: Implement firewall controls and email security standards (SMTP, TLS) to safeguard business data.
- Compliance & Testing: Contribute to ISO 27001 compliance (policy/documentation); review penetration testing and vulnerability scans to proactively mitigate risk.
Business Continuity, Operational Reliability
- Disaster Recovery: Monitor backup systems, conduct regular restore testing, and support annual external audits and DR testing initiatives.
- Proactive Monitoring: Manage system uptime, antivirus/EDR, and SIEM tools to quickly identify and resolve performance anomalies.
- Network Admin: Support Azure VPN connectivity and applied IP routing and subnetting fundamentals to resolve complex connectivity issues.
User & Device Management
- Lifecycle Management: Own the end-to-end Joiners/Movers/Leavers (JML) process, including provisioning and configuring user laptops.
Documentation & Process Improvement
- IT Governance: Maintain accurate asset registers, risk tracking logs, and system configuration documentation in shared repositories.
- Continuous Improvement: Partner with stakeholders on IT projects, driving efficiency, automation, and security enhancements.
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Strong experience with Windows Server, Active Directory and Microsoft 365 administration
- Solid understanding of backup, recovery, and disaster recovery principles
- Knowledge of email systems, security, and certificate management
- Experience with IT security tools and concepts (firewalls, antivirus, vulnerability management)
- Ability to document systems and processes clearly
- Strong problem-solving and diagnostic skills
Desirable
- Experience supporting ISO 27001 environments
- Familiarity with Azure services, including VPN and backups
- Exposure to monitoring tools
- Understanding of penetration testing and vulnerability scanning outputs
- Knowledge of security awareness platforms (e.g. KnowBe4)
- Familiarity with basic scripting or a willingness to develop automation skills
