Role Summary
We are seeking a skilled, professional and detail-focused Cleaning Operative to join our team at a luxury student accommodation site. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining high standards of cleanliness, hygiene and presentation across communal areas, shared facilities and student rooms.
This role requires someone who is proactive, takes pride in their work and understands the importance of creating a clean, safe and welcoming environment for students, residents, visitors and client representatives. Due to the nature of student accommodation, the role may involve quick room turnaround cleans, with rooms expected to be completed within approximately 1 hour to meet operational deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine cleaning tasks, including dusting, vacuuming, sweeping, mopping and wiping down surfaces.
- Clean and maintain communal areas, including reception areas, corridors, lifts, stairwells, lounges, study spaces, gyms, laundry rooms and other shared facilities.
- Clean and sanitise washrooms, kitchens, bin stores, social spaces and high-touch areas to a high standard.
- Carry out student room cleaning, including quick turnaround cleans, deep cleans and refresh cleans, ensuring rooms are cleaned efficiently and to the required standard within the allocated timeframe.
- Support with room turnaround cleaning during student move-in, move-out and busy operational periods, with an expected room turnaround time of approximately 1 hour per room.
- Empty bins and dispose of waste and recycling in the correct designated areas.
- Restock consumables such as toilet rolls, hand soap, hand towels and other cleaning supplies where required.
- Maintain cleaning equipment and ensure it is used, cleaned and stored correctly after each shift.
- Inspect assigned areas to ensure cleanliness meets R3 Facilities Management and client standards.
- Follow all health and safety procedures, including COSHH, colour coding and safe use of cleaning chemicals.
- Report any maintenance issues, damages, hazards, lost property or security concerns promptly to the Supervisor or Site Manager.
- Respect residents’ privacy, belongings and living spaces at all times.
- Maintain a professional, polite and helpful approach when interacting with students, staff, visitors and colleagues.
What We’re Looking For
- Previous cleaning experience is preferred, particularly within student accommodation, hotels, serviced apartments, residential buildings, offices or high-end commercial environments.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering excellent standards.
- Reliable, punctual and professional in appearance and attitude.
- Ability to work efficiently and maintain standards when working to tight room turnaround deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication skills when dealing with residents, clients and colleagues.
- Knowledge of cleaning best practices, tools, products and safe working procedures.
- Physical stamina and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- A respectful and discreet approach when working around residents and personal belongings.
- Flexibility to work variable weekly hours depending on site occupancy, operational demand and room turnaround requirements.
- A driver’s licence and access to a car is desirable but not essential, depending on site requirements.

Work Schedule
Days: Monday to Friday, with flexibility required depending on business needs
Hours: Variable hours each week depending on site requirements, occupancy levels and room turnaround demand
Time: Morning/Afternoon shifts
Pay: £13.00 per hour
