Overview
We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate dental nurse to join our friendly team at Comely Bank Dental, a well-established private practice in the heart of Edinburgh's Comely Bank area. The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting our principal dentists and associates during a wide range of procedures, ensuring every patient feels comfortable and well cared for throughout their visit.
We are a small, close-knit team who pride ourselves on delivering high-quality, unhurried care in a welcoming environment. We use the latest digital technology — including intraoral scanning, digital radiography, and Invisalign — and we are committed to supporting our team members to develop their skills and confidence. This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about patient care who is looking to grow their career within a modern private dental practice.
Responsibilities
- Assist our dentists during a variety of procedures, from routine examinations through to restorative and aesthetic treatments, ensuring patient safety and comfort at all times
- Prepare and maintain treatment rooms, including sterilising instruments and ensuring all materials are ready before each appointment
- Provide patients with clear pre- and post-treatment instructions, answering any questions with warmth and empathy — including supporting patients who experience dental anxiety
- Take and process digital radiographs and assist with intraoral scanning
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date patient records using our practice management software
- Support with administrative tasks including appointment management and patient correspondence as required
- Ensure full compliance with health and safety regulations and infection control procedures at all times
- Contribute to a clean, organised, and welcoming environment for patients and colleagues alike
Qualifications
- GDC registration as a dental nurse (essential)
- Proven experience or training in patient care within a dental or healthcare setting is desirable; we are happy to support the right candidate who is newer to the role
- Good command of English, both written and spoken, to communicate effectively with patients and colleagues
- Confident IT skills for managing electronic patient records and appointment systems
- Excellent communication skills — you are naturally warm, reassuring, and able to put people at ease
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a busy clinic environment
- A collaborative team player with a professional, positive attitude and a genuine attention to detail
