Working within Homefire Group, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a Trainee HGV driver to join our Mossend Depot on a full-time permanent basis, delivering a high-quality delivery service for fuel related products to retail and commercial customers. You will be delivering a range of products, from a small bag of kindling to our 25kg briquettes or even products from our summer garden range such as bark bales. Whilst there is a large amount of manual handling, we do provide tools to aid deliveries such as sack trolleys.
Your working day will start at 7am and finish by 3pm. In winter, your working day might be longer with a 5pm finish; but any hours worked over your usual contractual hours will be paid at a premium rate (time and half). During the busier winter months, we do require drivers to work alternative Saturdays to ensure we can fulfil the needs of our customers.
You’ll start your journey as a pickup driver, learning the role as a delivery driver, understanding our products and becoming familiar with your depots delivery area and transport legislation. Once you have demonstrated your capabilities, you’ll be put through your Class C License. Once you have passed your Class C license, and gained your CPC, you’ll be on the road as one of our dedicated HGV drivers, fuelling the future.
The successful candidate will have:
o An enthusiastic and hard working attitude

o Good knowledge and ability to work in accordance with transport legislation, and health and safety procedures.
o Strong customer service skills, with a professional and personable approach to both retail and commercial customers.
