Job title: Mechanic
Based in Belfast but must be able to work away if required.
Join Rockcastle as a qualified mechanic carrying out servicing, diagnostics and repairs on cars, vans and HGV. You will use diagnostic equipment, replace parts, perform safety checks, and complete vehicle documentation to permitted standards.

Friday 8:00 - 14:00

Key responsibilities
- Carry out routine servicing, scheduled maintenance and component replacement on cars and light vans and HGV.
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and electronic faults using diagnostic tools.
- Repair or replace brakes, suspension, steering, engines, transmissions and exhaust systems to manufacturer or workshop standards.
- Perform safety inspections and pre-MOT checks; prepare vehicles for testing and document defects.
- Complete accurate job sheets, timesheets, and parts usage records; update vehicle service history.
- Communicate repair options and timescales clearly to line manager.
- Adhere to health and safety and COSHH procedures, including correct handling and disposal of fluids and batteries.
- Support continuous improvement by suggesting fault trends, preventative maintenance, and parts stocking improvements.
Essential skills and experience
- Relevant vocational qualification in vehicle maintenance (NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent) or demonstrable experience.
- Proven practical experience working on cars, light vans and HGV in a workshop setting.
- Competent use of industry diagnostic tools and basic vehicle electrics knowledge.
- Ability to read wiring diagrams, service manuals and follow technical instructions.
- Good communication skills for liaising with colleagues and recording work.
- Full UK driving licence.
Desirable
- MOT tester qualification or experience working with MOT processes.
- Experience working with fleet vehicles or commercial van servicing.
- Customer-facing experience or service-advisor collaboration skills.
Pay: £15.00-£20.00 per hour
