We are a well-established, tight-knit construction company with a team of three hands-on employees.
Alongside our active construction operations, we manage and maintain a substantial, fast-growing portfolio of
residential/commercial rental properties. We are now looking for a highly capable, self-motivated individual to
take ownership of our back-office, financial bookkeeping, and property administration.
The Role:
As the fourth member of our team, you will act as the operational backbone of our company. This is a dual-
focus role requiring a sharp mind for figures and strong organizational skills. You will split your focus between
managing our day-to-day construction accounting and overseeing the administrative workflows of our rental
portfolio.
Key Bookkeeping & Financial Responsibilities:
Bank Reconciliation: Execute daily reconciliation of bank accounts across both the construction company
and rental portfolio accounts.
Payroll Processing: Manage weekly/monthly payroll for our 3 direct employees, including pension
submissions.
CIS Management: Verify subcontractors with HMRC, calculate precise Construction Industry Scheme
(CIS) deductions, and submit monthly CIS returns.
VAT Returns: Prepare and submit quarterly VAT returns, navigating the complex rules of the Domestic
Reverse Charge (DRC) for construction services.
Ledger Management: Match supplier invoices to delivery notes, input financial records accurately into
cloud accounting systems, and execute regular payment runs.
Hiring & Interview Package 1Key Property Administration Responsibilities:
Rent Tracking: Monitor incoming tenant rental payments, systematically log transactions, and
professionally chase any arrears.
Cost Allocation: Ensure maintenance, material, and repair costs are meticulously tagged to specific rental
properties for optimized end-of-year tax filing.
What We Are Looking For:
Proven experience as a Bookkeeper, ideally within the construction or property sector.
Strong, functional knowledge of HMRC guidelines, including CIS rules and construction VAT.
Proficiency with modern cloud accounting software (e.g., Xero, Online).
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage time independently in an autonomous small-
business environment.
A professional, clear communicator when dealing with suppliers, and subcontractors.
