Altrad are currently looking for an experienced Industrial Cleaner with Telehandler qualification to join the team across the North East region for site works.
This role will involve working 38 hour weeks Monday - Friday.
The position is paid under AES agreements (£13.53 per hour + £1.60 hourly bonus - subject to achievement of the required Safety and Attendance KPIs.), must be local to the North East region.
The role is permanent.
This is a dual-role position and is not solely a telehandler driving role. When the telehandler is not required, the successful candidate will be expected to work as part of the site team and assist with general industrial services activities.
Key Deliverables:
Telehandler Duties
- Safely operate a 9m telehandler in accordance with site procedures, training and manufacturer requirements.
- Carry out daily pre-use inspections and complete all required plant documentation.
- Load, unload, lift, transport and position materials and equipment safely.
- Support the movement and positioning of pumps, hoses, pipework, IBCs, tanks and other site equipment where required.
- Ensure loads are secure, within the machine's rated capacity and suitable for the attachment being used.
- Work under the direction of supervisors, banksmen and lifting personnel where applicable.
- Report defects, damage or unsafe conditions immediately and remove equipment from service where necessary.
General Operative Duties
When not operating the telehandler, duties will include supporting the wider Industrial Services team with activities such as:
- Setting up and dismantling work areas.
- Handling and positioning hoses, pumps and associated equipment.
- Assisting with pumping, transfer and tank-related operations.
- General industrial cleaning and housekeeping.
- Moving equipment and materials around the worksite.
- Assisting with the preparation and mobilisation of equipment.
- Supporting supervisors and other operatives with day-to-day site activities.
- Maintaining clean and safe work areas throughout the shift.
- Carrying out other reasonable duties appropriate to the role.
Health, Safety & Environmental Responsibilities
- Comply with all company and client Health, Safety and Environmental requirements.
- Work in accordance with approved RAMS, permits and site procedures.
- Attend toolbox talks, safety briefings and shift handovers.
- Wear and maintain the required PPE/RPE.
- Report incidents, near misses, equipment defects and environmental concerns immediately.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping at all times.
Key Requirements / Qualifications:
Essential
- Valid CPCS or NPORS Telehandler qualification covering the required machine category/capacity.
- Previous experience operating telehandlers within an industrial, construction or similar environment.
- Be local to site
Desirable
- Valid CCNSG Safety Passport or equivalent.
- High Pressure Water Jetting Ticket
- Confined Space Certificate
- Previous experience within petrochemical, refinery, tank cleaning, industrial services or shutdown environments (would be an advantage but is not essential)
- Experience working with pumps, hoses and liquid/sludge transfer equipment (would be an advantage but is not essential)
Working Conditions
The role will involve working on operational industrial sites and may include:
- Day and night shifts.
- Weekend and shutdown working.
- Manual handling and physically demanding activities.
- Working around mobile plant, pumps and industrial equipment.
- Wearing task-specific PPE and RPE where required.
