We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and capable Deputy Clinical Manager to join our teams at Beckenham Beacon Urgent Treatment Centre and Princess Royal University Hospital in South London. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced clinician to support the UTC Clinical Manager in leading the clinical team and delivering consistently high standards of safe, patient-centred care.
The successful applicant will be a registered Nurse or Paramedic with experience and knowledge of minor illness and minor injury presentations gained in urgent care, an emergency department or primary care. They will be an independent prescriber with the clinical expertise, professional judgement and leadership skills needed to contribute effectively to the service.
Working closely with the UTC leadership team, the post holder will support the development of clinical pathways, agreed improvement projects and delegated management activity. They will contribute to the induction, training, mentoring and development of new and existing staff, work regular clinical hours and provide visible leadership by example. The role includes weekend and bank-holiday working and may require additional support during periods of high demand.
The successful applicant must be able to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team and autonomously when completing delegated responsibilities. They will demonstrate strong communication, organisation and prioritisation skills and a clear commitment to professional accountability and patient safety.
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, including weekend working.
Salary: £58,000 full-time equivalent, plus London Weighting and applicable unsocial-hours enhancements.
Essential
- Registered nurse or paramedic with NMC or HCPC registration with no sanctions in current practice
- Minimum Postgraduate Level 7 in Advanced Practice (or equivalent) and working towards full Masters degree.
- Independent Prescribing Qualification with a minimum of 2-year post qualification
- At least four years of working full time post registration, ideally within a senior role
- At least 2 years working within a UTC, ED, or primary care as an autonomous practitioner
- Minor illness and/or injury qualification at level 6/7
- Mentoring qualification/experience
- A demonstrable and good standard of continued professional development (CPD)
- Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills – written, verbal (particularly listening skills)
- Clear understanding of professional responsibility and accountability.
- Good organisational skills and ability to manage and prioritise own workload
- Be able to clear an enhanced DBS check/Must be authorised to work in the UK
Desirable
- ILS/PILS or ALS qualification
- Level 3 safeguarding of adults and children
- Experience of lab result interpretation
- IRMER and Red dot qualification
- Management experience
- ECG interpretation qualification
The interview process will consist of an interview and problem-solving task with an interview panel.
