Purpose of Role
This is a new post at Capsticks. Working closely with senior stakeholders in our business services and legal teams, the successful candidate will develop, coordinate and embed a scalable Responsible Business (RB) strategy and delivery programme for the firm. Externally our RB programme will strengthen client relationships, support successful tender outcomes and enable consistent delivery of our social value commitments to our clients. Internally our RB programme will ensure effective measurement and reporting of RB activity across the firm.
Key Responsibilities
Responsible Business Strategy & Programme
- Develop to maturity and maintain our RB strategy and RB delivery programme and its workstreams of: RB governance; our environmental commitments; equity diversity and inclusion; and corporate social responsibility including our social value commitments to current and prospective clients particularly in the public sector. Based within our central Business Services, the postholder will work with:
- Our Governance & Risk (compliance) team in relation to RB governance;
- Our Bids & Tenders team and our client account leads in relation to social value delivery to our current and prospectivOur Head of Estates & Central Services who leads on our energy commitments and ISO 14001 accreditation;
- Our Head of Inclusion & Wellbeing and the Managing Partner (as EDI executive sponsor) who lead on our EDI strategy and plan;
- Our CSR teams of volunteers across our business nationally; and clients
Clients & Frameworks
- Develop a firmwide Social Value (SV) framework and menu of approved activities
- Create repeatable social value offers that can be deployed across all clients
- Ensure initiatives align with client priorities, public sector and statutory requirements and Capsticks' values
- Maintain alignment with the National TOMs (Themes, Outcomes, Measures) Framework and public sector procurement requirements
Bids & Tenders Support
- Collaborate with the Bids & Tenders team to draft high-scoring, legally compliant Social Value Method Statements for complex legal panels and frameworks
- Design bespoke, contract-specific social value packages for prospective clients, incorporating localised pro bono hours, targeted skills mentoring and community initiatives
- Create standard social value commitments, case studies and evidence libraries
- Establish governance around what the firm will and will not commit to in relation to social value
- Provide commercial oversight to ensure our social value commitments remain proportionate and deliverable
Client Delivery
- Support CALs and Framework Leads in delivering contractual social value commitments
- Coordinate activity across the business to ensure commitments are fulfilled
- Act as central point of expertise for client social value requirements
- Develop approaches that support clients in achieving their own social value objectives
Measurement & Reporting
- Implement consistent processes for recording all our RB activity across all our RB workstreams
- Act as the internal champion to ensure all social value commitments won in client tenders are actively delivered by the assigned legal teams
- Build and maintain an auditable data framework to track contract-specific Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Develop reporting aligned to National TOMs and client requirements
- Produce RB impact reporting for clients, frameworks and internal stakeholders
- Ensure robust evidence capture and audit trails for all RB workstreams
Governance & Capability
- Define clear roles, responsibilities and accountability across the firm
- Increase awareness and understanding of RB and SV across all business areas
- Develop SV training and guidance for CALs, framework leads and partners
- Monitor delivery against commitments and identify areas for improvement
Experience Required
- Proven experience in managing responsible business, social value, CSR or ESG programmes, preferably within the legal or professional services sectors.
- Direct experience working with the National TOMs framework, Social Value Portal, or equivalent socio-economic impact measurement tools
- Proven track record of writing successful social value content for public sector tenders or large-scale corporate bids
- Strong stakeholder management skills - confident communicator capable of influencing senior partners in legal and business services, engaging legal teams, and presenting impact data directly to clients
- Experience producing impact reports and KPIs
- Excellent project management and communication skills
