Job Summary
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Purchasing Assistant to join our dynamic procurement team. In this role, you will support the sourcing and purchasing processes by coordinating with suppliers, managing purchase orders, and ensuring timely delivery of goods and services. Your energetic approach will help streamline supply chain operations, optimize logistics, and contribute to the overall efficiency of our procurement activities.
Key Responsibilities
Running the MRP and placing Purchase Orders on suppliers
Checking Order Acknowledgements to ensure they match Purchase Orders and that delivery dates are acceptable
Chasing in orders that have passed their confirmed delivery dates
Checking stock of key items on a weekly basis and placing orders where necessary
Building relationships with key suppliers
Monitoring supplier performance
Liaising with the warehouse over any deliveries that do not match Purchase Orders and discussing with suppliers
Ensuring accuracy of data in the purchasing and warehouse system (currently AX, but in future Netsuite)
Liaising with Production to understand their requirements
Challenging suppliers on pricing and negotiating better rates
Sourcing new suppliers where appropriate
Assist in creating and processing purchase orders using ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle E-Business Suite (Oracle EBS)
Requirements
- Proven experience working with ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle EBS is highly desirable
- Strong understanding of supply chain management, logistics, and procurement processes
- Excellent negotiation skills with the ability to foster positive supplier relationships
- Familiarity with logistics coordination and inventory management practices
- Ability to work efficiently within a team and communicate effectively across departments
- Detail-oriented mindset with strong organisational skills
- Prior experience supporting procurement activities in a fast-paced environment is a plus

Pay: £30,000.00-£35,000.00 per year
