KeolisAmey Docklands (KAD) operates and maintains the Docklands Light Railway (DLR) on behalf of Transport for London (TfL). We’re looking for a motivated Installation Technician (SIT) to support the delivery of signalling projects across the DLR network. You’ll work as part of a high-performing engineering team to install, test, and commission signalling equipment, ensuring all work is delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest technical standards.
This role is vital to maintaining and improving the performance of our signalling systems while contributing to KAD’s ongoing commitment to safe, reliable, and customer-focused rail operations.
Assist the Team Leader in delivering signalling projects on time and to budget under the guidance of the Signalling Supervisor.
Support the installation, testing, and commissioning of new or modified signalling assets.
Provide second-line technical support and hands-on maintenance for signalling and telecommunications systems.
Supervise contractors and ensure all work meets KAD safety, quality, and engineering standards.
Maintain accurate records of all work undertaken, including installation progress, maintenance actions, and fault reports.
Participate in a strong safety culture, ensuring all work is conducted in compliance with relevant health and safety legislation and company policies.
Work flexibly — including nights and weekends — to support operational and project requirements.
Essential:
Reliable, punctual, and committed to safety.
Basic understanding of electrical circuits.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build effective working relationships.
Flexibility to meet shift and project requirements.
Full UK driving licence.
Desirable:
Previous experience working in a railway or project-based engineering environment.
Experience with signalling installation or telecommunications systems.
Willingness to gain safety certifications (Track Awareness and PICOW training will be provided).
