Warehouse Shift Manager

Pay: £31,902 per annum (£15.34 per hour)

Goodwill Supply Chain Solutions is looking for a motivated and hands-on Warehouse Shift Manager to lead our afternoon operation within our busy 95,000 sq ft multi-user warehouse in Northampton.
This role is ideal for an experienced Warehouse Supervisor, Team Leader or existing Shift Manager who enjoys leading people, maintaining high standards and taking ownership of warehouse operations.
Working a permanent Monday to Friday shift, you'll become part of a supportive management team, helping to deliver an excellent service for a diverse range of customers across warehousing, fulfilment and value-added services.
About Us
Goodwill Supply Chain Solutions is an independent third-party logistics (3PL) provider based in Northampton. Our operation includes:
- Container unloading
- Pallet storage
- Pick and Pack
- Value Added Services
- Rework
- Despatch
We operate using Blue Yonder Warehouse Management System (WMS) and pride ourselves on delivering high levels of service, inventory accuracy and operational excellence.
The Role
You'll be responsible for leading the warehouse operation between 10:30am and 7:00pm, ensuring work is completed safely, accurately and on time.
You'll work closely alongside our Warehouse Operations Manager until 5:30pm and our AM Shift Manager until 2:00pm, before taking responsibility for leading a smaller warehouse team through to the end of the shift.
This is a hands-on leadership role. We are looking for someone who enjoys being on the warehouse floor, supporting colleagues, solving problems and setting high standards by leading from the front.
Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership
- Lead, motivate and support warehouse supervisors and operatives.
- Allocate work effectively to meet operational priorities.
- Maintain a visible presence on the warehouse floor.
- Coach and develop team members.
- Manage attendance, performance and conduct in line with company procedures.
Warehouse Operations
- Oversee inbound, storage, picking, packing, rework and despatch activities.
- Ensure customer orders are completed accurately and on time.
- Prioritise workloads throughout the shift.
- Ensure effective communication and shift handovers.
- Resolve operational issues quickly and effectively.
Systems & Inventory
- Ensure warehouse activity is completed accurately using our Warehouse Management System.
- Maintain high standards of inventory accuracy.
- Investigate discrepancies and identify root causes.
- Promote process compliance and accurate scanning.
Health & Safety
- Promote safe working practices at all times.
- Maintain excellent housekeeping standards.
- Challenge unsafe behaviour where necessary.
- Ensure company procedures are consistently followed.
Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve warehouse performance.
- Support process improvements and new ways of working.
- Help drive productivity, quality and customer service improvements.
About You
We're looking for someone who enjoys taking ownership and leading by example.
You'll ideally have:
- Previous experience leading a warehouse team.
- Experience as a Warehouse Supervisor, Team Leader or Shift Manager.
- Strong organisational and planning skills.
- Excellent communication and leadership ability.
- A proactive approach to problem solving.
- Experience using a Warehouse Management System (WMS).
- A strong commitment to safety, accuracy and customer service.
Experience within a 3PL environment would be an advantage.
