Thorpe Hall Golf Club is looking for an enthusiastic and reliable Commis Chef to join our kitchen team on a 20-hour per week contract.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about food, eager to develop their skills, and enjoys working in a busy, fast-paced kitchen.
About the Role
Working alongside our experienced chefs, you'll assist in delivering high-quality food across all areas of the business. The role includes preparing and serving our day-to-day bar and restaurant menus, as well as supporting the delivery of luncheons, wakes, private events, golf days, and other functions.
Weekend availability is essential, as Saturdays and Sundays are our busiest trading days and are a key focus of the business. Regular weekend working will form an important part of your rota.
Key Responsibilities
· Assist with the preparation and cooking of the day-to-day bar and restaurant menus.
· Support the delivery of food for luncheons, wakes, private events, golf days, and other functions.
· Prepare ingredients and assist with basic food preparation.
· Maintain high standards of food quality, presentation, and consistency.
· Carry out pot wash duties and ensure kitchen equipment, utensils, and work areas are kept clean and organised.
· Assist with stock rotation, deliveries, and the correct storage of food.
· Follow all food hygiene, health and safety, and cleaning procedures.
· Work efficiently as part of a professional kitchen team during busy service periods.
· Be willing to undertake any reasonable duties required to support the smooth running of the kitchen.
What We're Looking For

· Ability to work well under pressure in a busy kitchen.
· Strong teamwork and communication skills.
· A good work ethic and willingness to get involved in all aspects of kitchen operations, including cleaning and pot wash duties.
· Previous kitchen experience is desirable but not essential.
· A Food Hygiene Certificate is an advantage (training can be provided).
