Office based, 37.5hrs working week.
Purpose of the Role:
To manage the procurement of food, beverage, and non-food products, ensuring the business secures the right products at the best commercial terms while maintaining excellent supplier relationships, service levels, stock availability, and product quality. The role contributes directly to profitability through effective cost management and purchasing decisions
Responsibilities:
Purchasing
- Source and procure products in line with company requirements.
- Raise purchase orders and monitor supplier confirmations.
- Ensure continuity of supply across assigned product categories.
- Negotiate prices, rebates, promotional support, and payment terms within agreed authority levels.
- Support tender exercises and supplier reviews.
- Identify alternative suppliers and products to improve value or reduce risk.
Supplier Management
- Build strong sustainable relationships with suppliers.
- Monitor supplier performance including: service levels, delivery performance, product quality, and pricing compliance
- Resolve supplier issues promptly.
- Conduct regular supplier review meetings.
Commercial Management
- Analyse market trends and commodity movements.
- Monitor competitor pricing where appropriate.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Support annual budgeting and forecasting.
- Deliver purchasing savings targets.
Stock Management
- Work closely with warehouse and inventory teams to maintain optimum stock levels.
- Minimise stock shortages and overstock.
- Review slow-moving and obsolete stock.
- Support demand forecasting.
Product Management
- Assist with new product introductions.
- Rationalise existing product ranges.
- Ensure product specifications remain accurate.
- Work alongside Sales team to meet customer requirements.
Administration
- Maintain accurate purchasing data within ERP systems.
- Update supplier pricing.
- Ensure purchase orders are accurate and authorised.
- Maintain supplier records.
- Produce regular procurement reports.
Person Specification:
Essential
- Purchasing experience min 3 years
- CIPS Level 4 qualified or experience equivalent
- Excellent negotiation skills
- Strong analytical ability
- Good commercial awareness
- Competent in Microsoft Excel
- Experience using ERP or purchasing systems
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Ability to prioritise workload
- High attention to detail
- Commercial astuteness
Desirable
- Foodservice or wholesale industry experience
- Knowledge of food categories
- Experience with supplier negotiations
- Understanding of stock management principles

Pay: £35,000.00-£40,000.00 per year
