Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Dispensing Assistant to join our pharmacy team. The successful candidate will play a vital role in providing excellent customer service, supporting medication dispensing, and ensuring smooth daily operations. This role offers an opportunity to develop your skills within a professional healthcare environment, contributing to patient care and safety. Prior pharmacy experience and knowledge of medication administration are advantageous, but full training will be provided for suitable applicants committed to learning. Responsibilities
- Assist customers at the pharmacy counter with their enquiries and medication needs
- Support the dispensing process under supervision, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulations
- Handle prescription collections, payments, and record keeping efficiently
- Maintain stock levels and organise the counter area for optimal accessibility
- Provide guidance on over-the-counter products and health-related questions
- Support medication administration procedures as directed by qualified staff
- Uphold high standards of cleanliness and organisation within the pharmacy environment
- Ensure adherence to health and safety protocols at all times
Experience
- Previous pharmacy experience is desirable but not essential; training will be provided for motivated candidates
- Knowledge of medication administration and patient care practices is advantageous
- Experience in customer service or retail environments is beneficial
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills and a caring attitude towards patients and customers
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a busy setting
This post will be 3 days per week: Wed (till 5), Thu, Fri 8.45am to 6pm (23.75 hours in total). You will get a 1 hour lunch break (unpaid) and you will have a short morning and afternoon break(paid).
We are looking for someone who is a motivated team-player, able to provide each customer or patient with the appropriate care and advice, politely and respectfully, while taking proper account of safety, confidentiality and individual needs. Previous pharmacy experience is preferred but is not essential.
Pay: From £12.71 per hour
