The Role
As a Senior Residential Support Worker, you will play a key role in providing high-quality care and support within the home. You will help create a safe, structured, and nurturing environment where children feel valued, supported, and able to thrive.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day care, supervision, and emotional support to children and young people.
- Build positive, professional relationships with young people.
- Support care plans, placement plans, and risk assessments.
- Promote emotional wellbeing, independence, resilience, and life skills.
- Support young people with education, appointments, family contact, and activities.
- Use positive behaviour support and de-escalation strategies.
- Complete accurate daily records, reports, and documentation.
- Work collaboratively with social workers, schools, health professionals, and families.
- Act as a positive role model and advocate for young people.
- Participate in a rota including evenings, weekends, waking nights, and sleep-ins where required.
Essential Requirements
- Minimum 2 years' experience within a children's residential care setting or similar specialist care environment.
- Experience supporting children with emotional and behavioural needs.
- Calm, resilient, and child-focused approach.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Flexibility to work shifts including evenings, weekends, and sleep-ins.
- Right to work in the UK.
- Willingness to complete an Enhanced DBS check and safer recruitment process.
Desirable
- Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare, Children & Young People's Workforce, or Health & Social Care.
- Knowledge of safeguarding, trauma-informed practice, and emotional dysregulation.
- Experience supporting children with EBD, ADHD, or attachment difficulties.
- Full UK driving licence.
