Adele Carr Recruitment is delighted to be recruiting for a Financial Administrator on behalf of a growing and highly regarded legal services organisation.
This is an excellent entry-level opportunity for someone looking to develop a career within legal finance, with full training and support provided. Working closely with the Head of Finance, you will gain valuable hands-on experience across legal cashiering, client and office accounts, reconciliations and general finance administration within a regulated environment.
The role would suit someone with a genuine interest in finance who is keen to learn, develop their skills and build a long-term career within legal finance.
Key Responsibilities
- Post client account receipts and payments accurately and promptly, ensuring transactions comply with relevant SRA Accounts Rules.
- Process outgoing client account payments, including BACS, CHAPS and telegraphic transfers, in line with the firm's authorisation procedures.
- Assist with client-to-office transfers, ensuring the appropriate authorisation is obtained before processing.
- Monitor client account balances and highlight residual balances or unallocated funds to the Head of Finance.
- Assist with regular bank reconciliations across both client and office accounts.
- Support the posting of purchase invoices and expense claims to the correct cost centres using Xero.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date cashiering records across relevant finance systems.
- Assist with audit and compliance queries relating to client and office account transactions.
- Respond to queries from fee earners and consultants regarding account balances and payment status.
- File and maintain financial documentation and transaction records accurately and in an organised, auditable manner.
- Provide general support to the wider finance team and assist with ad hoc finance duties as required.
Essential Skills & Experience
- A genuine interest in legal finance, accountancy or financial administration as a career.
- Excellent attention to detail and a high level of numerical accuracy.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines.
- A proactive and positive approach, with a willingness to learn and take direction.
- Competent Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.
- Clear and professional written and verbal communication skills.
- A high level of discretion and integrity when dealing with confidential financial and client information.
Desirable
- Previous experience within legal cashiering, accounts or finance administration, even at junior or entry level.
- Experience using Xero or other cloud-based accounting software.
- Basic knowledge of SRA Accounts Rules, or a willingness to learn.
- AAT Level 2 or 3, either completed or currently studying, would be advantageous but is not essential.
