We are seeking a dynamic and passionate Community Engagement/Communication Officer to serve as the voice and bridge between our organization and the communities we serve. In this vital role, you will develop and implement strategic communication initiatives that foster positive relationships, promote community involvement, and enhance our organization's visibility. Responsibilities
- Design and execute community outreach programs that align with organizational goals, ensuring active participation from diverse community groups.
- Develop compelling content for social media platforms, newsletters, press releases, and other communication channels to keep stakeholders informed and engaged.
- Build strong relationships with local media outlets, partners, and community leaders to amplify our message and foster collaborative opportunities.
- Organize events, workshops, and forums that encourage dialogue, participation, and feedback from community members.
- Monitor public sentiment and media coverage related to the organization, providing insights to inform future communication strategies.
- Manage crisis communication efforts with transparency and professionalism to maintain trust during sensitive situations.
- Maintain accurate records of outreach activities, media engagements, and stakeholder interactions for reporting purposes.
Experience
- Proven experience in community engagement, public relations, or communications roles, preferably within nonprofit or social sectors.
- Strong understanding of public relations principles and best practices in stakeholder management.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to craft clear, engaging messages tailored to diverse audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to organize events and manage multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines.
- Familiarity with social media management tools, content creation, and digital communication strategies.
- Ability to build rapport quickly with community members, partners, media representatives, and internal teams.
