The Open Bakery is an award winning local family business. The family have been baking in Brighton since 1997. We are a truly authentic bakery, honouring traditions and customs from bakeries across Europe. We prepare everything fresh on the day for our two shops, we also run baking classes throughout the week and weekend.
This role is 4 shifts a week - approx.32 hours. We operate Monday - Saturday.

The markets are in different locations and run on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, and will be attended by yourself to cover the Market Manager's holiday.
The Supervisor/Barista part of the job would be at out Queen's Park Shop. Shifts are normally 8 hours long, and can start as early as 6am. The closing shift is normally finished by 5pm. This is very much a customer facing role, along with helping the Manager with the daily operations of the shop. The shop is open Monday - Saturday. https://openbakery.co.uk/queens-park
Essential requirements for role
- A full clean UK driving licence for at least 5 years-confident driving small electric vehicle on morning and market shifts
- proven experience making excellent coffee in a high volume location
- Good organisation skills, a pragmatic approach. Be able to work independently on your own and as a part of a small team
- Visual display skills with attention to detail
- Positive attitude and customer service
- Heaving lifting is a large part of the role, this would involve flour bags and creates of bread.
Pay is £14.30 per hour - the position is for 1 year as maternity cover. Potential for a permanent position for the right candidate.
