A typical day in the life of a Junior Sous Chef:
Support the Sous Chef and Head Chef with the day-to-day running of the kitchen.
Prepare and cook dishes to Bannatyne's high standards of quality, consistency and presentation.
Supervise sections of the kitchen during service and support junior team members with guidance and coaching.
Assist in ensuring smooth kitchen operations during busy service periods.
Step into additional responsibilities when the Sous Chef is unavailable, under the guidance of the Head Chef.
Assist with the preparation of seasonal menus and daily specials.
Ensure food is prepared safely, efficiently and in line with company specifications.
Monitor food quality, portion control and presentation standards.
Support stock control, stock rotation and storage procedures to minimise waste.
Assist with deliveries and help maintain accurate stock levels.
Ensure food hygiene, health and safety and COSHH standards are always maintained.
Maintain a clean, organised and safe kitchen environment.
Support the induction and training of new kitchen team members.
Work collaboratively with front of house teams to deliver an exceptional customer experience.
Assist with private functions, events and promotional activities when required.
What we are looking for:
Food Safety Level 2 or 3 certification.
Experience as a Chef de Partie or in a similar role within a fast-paced kitchen.
Excellent cooking skills with a passion for producing high-quality food.
A willingness to learn and develop leadership skills.
Ability to organise and prioritise workload in a busy environment.
Positive attitude with a flexible and proactive approach.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Good understanding of food hygiene, health and safety legislation, including COSHH.
Willingness to work a variety of shifts, including evenings, weekends and bank holidays
It would be desirable if you hold a Food Safety Level 3 qualification, have supervisory experience within a kitchen environment, possess a Culinary Arts qualification (or equivalent), and have experience assisting with menu development and stock control.
