James Ray Recruitment are working with a growing and highly regarded law firm seeking an experienced Court of Protection legal professional to join its expanding Court of Protection Department in Manchester.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in Property and Affairs Court of Protection matters to develop their career within a specialist team handling complex and high-value deputyship and trust matters. You will work closely with vulnerable clients, including children and adults who have suffered brain injuries, while receiving support from experienced practitioners.
Responsibilities
- Supporting a Deputy in managing a national caseload of high-value Property and Affairs deputyships and trust matters.
- Working closely with vulnerable children and adults who have suffered brain injuries, as well as their families and wider support networks.
- Managing a caseload of smaller Court of Protection matters, with the opportunity to develop and expand your own caseload.
- Conducting out-of-office visits to clients and their families where required.
- Working collaboratively with and supporting the Clinical Negligence team on relevant matters.
- Assisting with the ongoing development and administration of the Court of Protection department.
- Contributing to marketing, networking and business development activities to help grow the Court of Protection team.
Skills
- 2+ years PQE
- A strong understanding of the Mental Capacity Act, Mental Capacity Code of Practice and Court of Protection Rules.
- Previous experience within Private Client work.
- Knowledge and understanding of Court of Protection Property and Affairs matters.
- STEP qualification or a willingness and interest in working towards the qualification.
- An understanding of welfare benefits and their application to vulnerable clients.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work sensitively with vulnerable individuals and their families.
- A compassionate, professional and client-focused approach.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage a varied caseload effectively.

Pay: £38,000.00-£50,000.00 per year
