Role Purpose
The Inclusive Practice Manager is responsible for leading and managing services that support individuals with complex mental health needs, Learning Disabilities (LD), and autism spectrum disorder (ASD), including those requiring physical interventions (PMVA). The postholder will ensure the delivery of high-quality, person-centred care, maintain compliance with regulatory standards, and implement effective governance processes. They will provide strong leadership, training, and development for the multidisciplinary team (MDT), working closely with house managers, staff teams, the Inclusive Practice Manager Lead, and the Complex Care Manager to promote inclusive service delivery, continuity of care, and a culture of respect. The role also encompasses oversight of quality assurance and infection control, ensuring safe, effective, and compliant practices across all services.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day management and oversight of care services for individuals with moderate mental health needs, Learning Disabilities (LD), and autism spectrum disorder (ASD), ensuring that health appointments, care plans, and packages of care are appropriately managed and reflective of individual needs.
- Collaborate with the senior management team to lead, manage, and develop a skilled workforce delivering safe, effective, and compassionate care.
- Support and collaborate with the senior management team to manage training and professional development, ensuring all staff complete induction, mandatory, and specialist training to maintain competence.
- Monitor staff performance, skills, and development; identify gaps and implement timely training interventions.
- Support and collaborate with HR and Recruitment Manager to support safe recruitment, retention, and workforce planning.
- Work with the Inclusive Practice Manager Lead and Complex Care Manager to ensure inclusive service delivery, equitable opportunities, and a culture of respect.
- Collaborate with Complex Care Manager to oversee staff rotas and attendance to maintain appropriate staffing levels, skill mix, and continuity of care across all shifts.
- Support and collaborate with Complex Care Manager to oversee absence management, supervision, and performance reviews, supporting staff development goals.
- Contribute to out-of-hours/on-call duties as part of the senior team, ensuring continuity, safety, and quality of care seven days a week.
- Ensure compliance across all services, properties, and client care through proactive supervision, monitoring, and support of the staff team, maintaining high standards of quality assurance.
- Support and collaborate with the Inclusive Practice Manager Lead to ensure all care packages are person-centred, regularly reviewed, and updated in line with individuals’ evolving needs.
- Oversee the safe implementation of physical interventions, ensuring staff are trained, competent, and compliant with PMVA standards.
- Support and collaborate with the Inclusive Practice Manager Lead to promote and monitor governance activities, including incident reporting, audits, and quality assurance measures.
- Report to the Inclusive Practice Manager Lead and oversee robust reporting systems for PMVA, ensuring incidents are accurately recorded, reviewed, and used to inform service improvements.
Training & Skill Development
- Identify training needs across the workforce and implement staff development plans.
- Deliver and coordinate training in key areas such as de-escalation, physical intervention, safeguarding, and mental health awareness.
- Work with the Complex Care Manager to support staff through mentoring, coaching, and reflective practice sessions.
- Foster a culture of continuous learning, ensuring staff remain up to date with mandatory and specialist training.
- Encourage and support career progression and professional development opportunities within the team.
- Collaborate with the senior management team to support the Trainee House Manager Programme, providing structured training, mentoring, and competency assessment to prepare future leaders.
- Work in partnership with the Senior Management Team to design and deliver comprehensive induction programmes for all new staff.
- Contribute to the ongoing training, development, and competency monitoring of House Managers, ensuring leadership standards and regulatory compliance are consistently met.
Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) & Partnership Working
- Attend and contribute to MDT meetings, ensuring collaborative and holistic care planning.
- Work closely with health professionals, local authorities, commissioners, and families to achieve the best outcomes for clients.
- Support and monitor escalation processes for complex issues, safeguarding concerns, and crisis management.
- Participate in round table meetings, ensuring all stakeholders are engaged in decision-making.
- Contribute to court preparation, including the providing of evidence, and care records.
Reporting & Compliance
- Monitor, oversee and produce timely and accurate reports on service performance, incidents, healthcare appointments, records, and outcomes.
- Maintain up-to-date records, ensuring confidentiality, data protection compliance, and alignment with regulatory requirements.
- Ensure services operate within budget, identifying efficiencies and cost-effective solutions where appropriate.
- Provide clear, evidence-based information to senior management, commissioners, and regulatory bodies as required.
- Report directly to the Senior Management Team and Board of Directors, attending weekly strategic meetings to update on performance, compliance, risks, and service development initiatives.
Person Specification
Qualifications & Training:
- Relevant management or leadership qualification, or willingness to undertake one, with knowledge of neurodiversity approaches.
- Relevant training or teaching qualification, or willingness to undertake one.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development in areas such as mental health, Learning Disabilities (LD), autism spectrum disorder (ASD), safeguarding, PMVA, infection control, and neurodiverse approaches.
Skills & Competencies:
- Excellent organisational, communication, negotiation, and report-writing skills.
- Ability to provide strategic oversight and evidence-based updates to senior management and boards.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to develop, motivate, and support staff.
- Experience in workforce planning, recruitment, and staff development.
- Ability to monitor, analyse, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) and quality assurance metrics.
- Competence in governance, regulatory compliance, and risk management.
- Ability to implement and maintain robust systems for safeguarding, PMVA, and infection control.

The Inclusive Practice Manager plays a key role in governance, ensuring that all service delivery operates in compliance with regulatory standards, company policies, and best practice guidance. This includes leading quality assurance initiatives, conducting audits, reviewing incident reports, and implementing corrective actions to continually improve service delivery. The postholder will oversee robust reporting systems, monitor key performance indicators, and ensure that staff adhere to quality assurance and infection control protocols. By maintaining transparent and effective governance processes, the Inclusive Practice Manager ensures accountability, promotes a culture of safety, and supports the delivery of consistent, high-quality care across all locations.
