Description:
Hackstons is seeking a commercially-minded and highly driven Head of Marketing to lead and oversee the day-to-day marketing activity across the business, with a primary focus on driving qualified leads, customer acquisition, and revenue growth for our cask whisky ownership business.
This is a hands-on and commercially focused role for someone who thrives on performance marketing, lead generation, campaign optimisation, and delivering measurable results. Working closely with senior leadership, external agencies, and in-house creative support, you’ll take ownership of marketing strategy and campaign performance across paid advertising, CRM management, lead nurturing, and customer acquisition initiatives.
While the role will support wider retail and eCommerce marketing activity where required, its core focus will be the continued growth of Hackstons’ cask whisky ownership division and the optimisation of the lead generation funnel from acquisition through to conversion.
The successful candidate will oversee and coordinate the output of specialist partners and team members across content, PR, social media, design, and paid media, ensuring all marketing activity aligns with business objectives, brand positioning, and commercial performance targets.

The ideal candidate will be confident managing agencies and specialist partners, comfortable owning campaign performance and reporting, and motivated by delivering measurable commercial growth.
This role would suit an ambitious and experienced Marketing Manager ready to take ownership of a growing marketing function.
Roles and Responsibilities
Lead Generation & Performance Marketing
● Take ownership of lead generation strategy and performance across the cask whisky ownership vertical of the business.
● Work closely with external paid media agencies to optimise PPC, Meta, display advertising, and lead acquisition campaigns to maximise lead quality, conversion, and ROI.
● Monitor and report on campaign performance including CPL, ROAS, conversion rates, lead quality, and revenue attribution.
● Continually identify opportunities to improve acquisition performance, lead nurturing, and conversion across the marketing funnel.
● Collaborate closely with the sales team to improve lead handover, conversion efficiency, and campaign effectiveness.
● Support the development of landing pages, lead magnets, customer journeys, and nurture sequences designed to improve conversion outcomes.
● Ensure all marketing activity remains commercially focused, target-driven, and aligned with wider business growth objectives.
Content, Social Media & PR Management
● Oversee the strategic direction and performance of content marketing, organic social media, PR activity, and supporting email campaign content across the business.
● Liaise with and manage external agencies, freelancers, and internal creative team members responsible for content creation, social media management, PR activity, graphic design, photography and videography, campaign assets, and supporting marketing materials.
● Provide clear briefs, strategic direction, feedback, and commercial objectives to ensure all marketing output aligns with Hackstons’ brand positioning and growth goals.
● Collaborate on campaign planning across content, PR, email marketing, and social channels to support lead generation and customer engagement.
● Monitor the performance of content and organic campaigns, identifying opportunities to improve reach, engagement, and conversion.
● Support the ongoing development of Hackstons’ brand visibility, authority, and customer trust within the luxury investment space.
● Identify opportunities for partnerships, brand collaborations, PR coverage, and thought leadership opportunities that support lead generation and brand growth.
CRM Management & Lead Nurturing
● Oversee and optimise CRM management processes with a focus on lead tracking, segmentation, customer journeys, and sales pipeline visibility.
● Manage and optimise HubSpot workflows, lead pipelines, lifecycle stages, and reporting processes.
● Work closely with the sales team to ensure lead data, attribution, and pipeline management are accurate and effective.
● Utilise customer data and behavioural insights to improve lead nurturing strategies and customer targeting.
● In collaboration with our third-party hubspot team, ensure CRM processes and automation support improved conversion rates, customer retention, and reporting accuracy.
● Produce regular reporting on CRM performance, lead progression, and conversion metrics.
Reporting & Commercial Performance
● Produce regular reporting across all key marketing channels and campaigns.
● Analyse marketing performance data and provide actionable recommendations for improvement.
● Ensure marketing activity is commercially focused and aligned with wider business objectives and sales targets.
● Fully manage the marketing budget and ensure spend is allocated effectively to drive measurable ROI.
● Monitor competitor activity, market trends, and customer behaviour to identify opportunities for growth and optimisation.
Collaboration & Business Support
● Work closely with Ecommerce, Retail, Sales, and Leadership teams to ensure alignment across campaigns and business priorities.
● Coordinate with external agencies, freelancers, and creative partners where required.
● Support retail and eCommerce marketing activity where necessary, including product launches, campaigns, and in-store initiatives.
● Contribute to wider business growth strategy through commercially focused marketing insight and recommendations.
Team Leadership & Campaign Execution
● Lead and coordinate the core marketing function, including Marketing Executives, content support, organic social media support, and relevant third-party agencies and freelancers.
● Provide clear direction, prioritisation, feedback, and support to ensure campaigns and marketing initiatives are delivered to a high standard and within agreed timelines.
● Act as a senior executor within the business, that is able to lead, implement, refine, and optimise campaigns while contributing strategically and creatively to campaign development.
● Ensure all external agencies and creative partners are aligned with Hackstons’ commercial objectives, brand positioning, and performance expectations.
● Foster strong collaboration between marketing, sales, retail, and leadership teams to ensure joined-up campaign execution and consistent business messaging.
Person Requirements
● Proven experience (minimum 5 years+) in a Marketing Manager role, ideally within luxury, retail, eCommerce, investment, or premium consumer sectors.
● Strong understanding of lead generation and performance marketing strategies.
● Demonstrable experience managing or contributing to paid advertising campaigns across Meta, Google, LinkedIn, and related digital channels.
● Strong understanding of CRM management, lead nurturing, and customer acquisition funnels specifically within HubSpot.
● Commercially minded with a strong understanding of ROI, conversion, and customer acquisition.
● Comfortable analysing campaign performance data and making data-driven marketing decisions.
● Comfortable managing a team of internal and external individuals across content, graphic design, social media, eCommerce and photography/videography.
● Experience briefing and managing external agencies and creative partners.
● Strong understanding of content marketing, PR, social media, and digital customer journeys.
● Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail.
● Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
● Experience using tools such as Google Analytics, Google Search Console and Meta reporting platforms.
● Experience working within a fast-paced SME environment is highly desirable.
● Experience within luxury goods, premium brands, drinks, hospitality, or alternative investments would be advantageous.
● Relevant marketing qualifications (CIM, IDM, degree in Marketing or similar) desirable but not essential.
● An eye for branding and creative direction is advantageous, as you will work closely with designers and creative partners on campaign assets and marketing materials.
