About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and proactive Maintenance Manager to lead our Maintenance Department and take responsibility for the safety, compliance, presentation and effective operation of our hotel estate, grounds, plant and equipment.
This is a varied management role combining team leadership, planned and reactive maintenance, statutory compliance, contractor management, projects and budget responsibility.
Working closely with the General Manager and Heads of Department, you'll ensure maintenance requirements are effectively prioritised and resolved, while driving continuous improvement and helping us maintain the high standards our guests expect.
Hours & Pay:
- Contract: Permanent
- Hours: 30 hours per week
- Pay: £17.50 to £18.00 per hour dependant on experience

What You'll be doing
- Leading, motivating and developing the Maintenance team along with management administration and rotas.
- Overseeing planned preventative and reactive maintenance across the hotel, grounds, plant and equipment
- Taking responsibility for statutory compliance, including fire safety, water hygiene and Legionella, electrical and gas safety, emergency lighting and asbestos management
- Managing and developing our maintenance management system, Snapfix, including maintenance requests, planned maintenance, inspections and compliance records
- Managing external contractors and service providers, from obtaining quotations through to monitoring and signing off completed works
- Managing the departmental budget, controlling expenditure and identifying opportunities for cost savings and energy efficiency
- Carrying out regular inspections of bedrooms, public areas, back-of-house areas, plant rooms and grounds
- Maintaining accurate maintenance and compliance records and providing updates and reports to the General Manager
- Working collaboratively with departments across the hotel to minimise disruption and support an excellent guest experience
- Driving continuous improvement and responding effectively to internal and external audit findings
What We're Looking For
Essential:
- Significant experience in hotel, hospitality, facilities or commercial property maintenance
- Previous experience managing or leading a maintenance team
- Sound knowledge of building maintenance, statutory compliance and Health & Safety legislation
- Experience managing contractors and planned preventative maintenance programmes
- Experience overseeing refurbishment or maintenance projects
- Strong leadership and people-management skills
- Ability to manage budgets, prioritise competing demands and oversee multiple projects
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach
- Good IT skills, including experience of maintenance management and compliance record systems
- A professional, organised and hands-on approach
Desirable:
- Relevant trade qualification or technical certification
- IOSH Managing Safely, NEBOSH or equivalent Health & Safety qualification
- Knowledge of Legionella, fire safety and other statutory compliance requirements
- Experience using Snapfix or a similar maintenance management system
- Full UK driving licence
