We are looking for a warm, confident and organised Toddler Group Lead to join our small nursery and lead our 1-2 year group.
This is a lovely opportunity for an early years practitioner who enjoys close key person work, outdoor learning and being part of a small, flexible team. You will care for 4 to 6 key children, supported by an apprentice who is training towards Level 3.
Our toddlers enjoy daily woodland trips for forest adventure and basic forest school-style experiences, so you will need to be comfortable supporting safe, engaging outdoor learning in all reasonable weathers.
The role includes
· Leading the toddler group for children aged 1-2 years.
· Being key person for 4 to 6 children, including observations, planning and next steps.
· Supporting daily woodland visits and safe outdoor learning.
· Working alongside and role-modelling good practice for an apprentice training towards Level 3.
· Working with the older group to support children’s transitions.
· Helping flexibly across the older group when needed.
· Supporting mixed-age provision when groups are together in our small setting.
· Building warm, professional relationships with children, families and colleagues.
We are looking for someone who
· Holds a relevant Level 3 early years qualification or above.
· Has good experience with babies or toddlers, ideally including 1-2 year olds.
· Understands the EYFS, safeguarding, key person responsibilities and child development.
· Is calm, reliable, observant and kind.
· Can plan meaningful experiences for toddlers indoors and outdoors.
· Is confident with routines, risk awareness and supervision during outdoor visits.
· Communicates well with parents and the wider nursery team.
Desirable: paediatric first aid, forest school or outdoor learning experience, and experience supporting transitions between nursery age groups.
Start date: as soon as possible, subject to safer recruitment checks. The current postholder leaves at the end of July, so we are keen to appoint promptly while completing the process properly.

Safeguarding statement: We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. The successful candidate will be subject to safer recruitment checks, including references, right to work, qualification checks and an enhanced DBS check with barred list check where required.
