Accounts Senior – Preston – Independent Accountancy Practice
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Accounts Senior to join a growing and forward-thinking independent accountancy firm in Preston.
This is an excellent opportunity for an ACA/ACCA qualified accountant, or an experienced individual qualified by experience, who is looking for a varied role with strong client exposure and the opportunity to develop within a supportive team environment.
Working with a diverse portfolio of owner-managed businesses and SMEs, you will be responsible for preparing and reviewing accounts, providing valuable business support to clients, and assisting with the development of junior team members.
As an Accounts Senior, your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing and reviewing statutory year-end accounts for a range of clients, including associated corporation tax computations.
- Producing and reviewing monthly and quarterly management accounts.
- Acting as a key point of contact for clients, building strong relationships and providing proactive accounting advice.
- Attending client meetings and supporting clients with their ongoing financial requirements.
- Reviewing Xero bookkeeping records and monitoring clients’ financial performance.
- Reviewing work completed by junior members of the team, ensuring quality and accuracy.
- Providing guidance, support, and mentoring to trainees and junior staff.
- Working closely with Client Managers and the wider team to deliver an excellent level of client service.
About YouThe successful candidate will ideally have:
- ACA or ACCA qualification, or be qualified by experience.
- Previous experience working within an accountancy practice environment.
- Strong technical knowledge of statutory accounts preparation and corporation tax.
- Experience managing a portfolio of clients, ideally owner-managed businesses and SMEs.
- Good working knowledge of cloud accounting software, preferably Xero.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to build strong client relationships.
Salary & Benefits
- Salary of £35,000 - £45,000 depending on experience and qualifications.
- Performance-related bonus of up to 10% of basic salary.
- 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays.
